Meet Mylo, a playful one-year-old pup who loves his toys almost as much as he loves destroying them! When Mylo stays home alone for the first time, he promises his mom that he’ll be a good boy and only destroy his toys. But when frustration takes over, Mylo finds himself in a much bigger mess than he ever imagined. With his mom’s love and guidance, Mylo learns that even big feelings can be hard to control, mistakes happen, and it’s always okay to ask for help. A sweet and playful story about big emotions, forgiveness, and learning that making a mess doesn’t make you a bad boy.

Dana Townsend is a Child and Youth Psychotherapist from Port Moody, BC, who is passionate about helping children make sense of their emotions, develop a deeper sense of self, and feel confident navigating life’s big feelings. Mylo is more than just a character in a story—he is Dana’s real-life pup! Inspired by Mylo’s playful personality, curious nature, and, of course, his talent for making a mess, Dana created Mylo Makes a Mess to help children learn about big emotions in a fun and relatable way. Through her work and her stories, Dana hopes to give children the tools to understand their feelings, be kind to themselves, and feel comfortable asking for help when they need it.
